History
Edwards, a real community, even back then…

In 1876, Joseph Brett traveled to the area from France in search of gold but found so much more - a place he would call home for the rest of his life. A place where he would marry, raise a family and develop the very first resort in the Eagle Valley, dubbed "The Frenchman's Resort". It was popular with well-heeled executives who would arrive by train for high stakes card games, hunting, fishing, relaxation and rejuvenation.

Brett's wife Marie was always prepared for the visitors with simple homemade biscuits and coffee or lavish meals consisting of many courses, whichever suited the taste of the guests. Here is where they could escape from the stresses of the business world. Today it is known as Edwards, Colorado ( named for a Colorado State Senator, back in the 1800's) Who would have guessed that more than 125 years later, people continue to find Edwards a wonderful community in which to live, work and play!
